Salene crossed the bridge that led to the small abandoned town. Her body was tense and her hackles raised. She kept looking down at the water under the bridge. It made her nervous. She hated water, especially walking across it.
When she reached the other side she shook out her fur and let out a huff of air to make herself relax. Once the feeling of being on edge left her, she set out towards the middle of the ruins. She had hoped to explore it since she hadn't been in the territory very long.
She stuck her nose to the ground and began search around a building, hoping to get familiar with the place. A scent that she hadn't quite smelled before led her inside the building. It seemed to have been a place that many humans would have gone to. There weren't many things on the tall rows of shelves that filled the large building.
Salene followed the scent and began to realize that it was getting stronger. Out of curiosity she kept following it. She knew she had smelled it before, but it had slipped out of her mind. She didn't think hard enough to realize what she was about to run into.
When the scent became strong enough to bring Salene's eyes up to see what it was she nearly had an heart attack. What she didn't realize was that she was following the scent of a badger.
The dark colored badger had it's nose in an cylinder like bowl. It was distracted enough so that Salene began to creep up on the creature.
The badger must have figured that something was behind it because it whipped around and seen Salene. It immediately seen her as a threat and slashed at her face with one paw. Salene panicked when she had seen that the creature had noticed her presence and she leaped back, but not before one of the claws from the badgers paw caught her nose.
Salene yelped and bolted in the direction opposite from the badger. She searched for a way out of the building, but was beginning to loose hope when she realized that she didn't know the way back out. She was too busy trying to find the scent that led her to an living injury.
As she made her way to the front of the building where there were glass doors. She scratched at them, trying to push her way through. She whimpered and barked, trying to call for attention to anyone that could help her out.
