The rain had come from the north, making it harder to fly in the already strong winds that stirred up in the mountain claws. Nathain was holed up in one of the caves, his wings splayed out as he panted, dripping a few drops onto the ground. As the water mixed with the dusty floor and started to cling to his feathers with every tiny movement. His darker primary feathers becoming a dull brown. Noticing this he snapped his bill shut and glared at the mess, hopping back a few steps to get out of the wet patch, turning to start preening the gunk out of his feathers with his black and yellow bill. Red eyes flickering around the dark space, it was pretty big for a cave.
High ceiling was good in his mind but it wasn't open like the sky but at least it gave a block from the harsher winds. A small pool at the back was sourced from a small stream of water that came from a crack in the stone of one wall. Only other living thing there was a bit of small plants that needed no light near the pool.
Nathain wandered towards the pool and took a moment to take a drink of the chilled water, as if he hadn't had enough of it from the sky. With a sigh he tried to settle down and give his wings a rest, setting himself to watch the entrance though his second lids.

o v e i__________________________________________ Damn, this storm wouldn't let up. It had been going for a few good hours now, and though Novei didn't particularly mind the rain, she didn't like torrential downpours making her fur cling to her ribs. She was still thin, too thin, and she didn't like her weakness exposed for the world to see. She was lucky that she didn't meet anything that wanted to eat her yet. This wilderness was filled with creatures she was just not used to... including cannibalistic wolves. And dragons. That was a fun evening.
Novei sighed, a thing she was good at, as she trotted through the forest/brushland/mountain looking terrain she was currently meandering through. She really had no idea where she was, which wasn't that surprising since that was all she knew once she got to this forsaken land. Oh, and all these packs were based on a false God. That too.
She thanked Loki that she found the cave once her eyes caught site of it. Something that wasn't wet. Yay. She trotted right on in like she owned the place and shook her fur off in a hurry. The less wet she could be, the better. That when she noticed the little bird. "Umm... are you one of those birds that can talk? If so I'm, ahh, kinda sorry for making you wet all over again." She grumbled, ears back. She would feel like a fool if it was one of those non-talking birds! She could never tell the difference before they actually spoke. Hey, at least no one was around. They'd probably make a fool of her if they were. Stupid new land with new rules...! __________________________________________

He hissed slightly as the drops hit him and snapped his wings into his body. Damn and just as he was drying. He'd hardly noticed the dark wolf enter, just not getting it through to his head in time before the drops hit and really got him up.
He spread his wings slightly, tensed in case she came at him and started to back away, trying to keep his balance. "I-I'm sorry Miss, I didn't think this cave belonged to anyone..." His red eyes were pinned to her as he tried to put more distance between them. Only they'd flicker around quickly to regard any exits he'd be able to get through. He'd hardly be able to fly in the room he had, let alone out there where he could get pinned to the rocks. Without thinking he puffed himself up a bit more to add some bulk to himself, already tiny compared to the wolf.
Any other time he'd have offered his leave but he wasn't about to just take off in this weather unless forced, he wasn't stupid. But the last thing he needed was to get hurt. If he got hurt enough to loose his flight he'd be more grounded than he was now. A tiny shiver at the thought before he stopped. Having felt he'd reached the limits of the cave through his tail feathers he watched the wolf, wondering what she'd do next.

o v e i__________________________________________ Novei hung her head low and looked into the bird's eyes, almost feral. He was one of the talking ones. She was hungry, but she was sure most creatures looked down upon eating other intelligent animals... though it was amusing how it puffed itself up, like that would prevent her from eating it. It even made her smirk. But then exhaustion set in, and she sighed and closed her eyes, flopping her body on the floor while doing so. "Calm down, little one. I can't eat speaking creatures," She sighed again as she tucked her face into her paws. "Besides, it makes me sleep less."
And she wasn't talking about her conscious.
Novei opened her eyes again, head still resting on her four legs, looking out at the oh-so lovely scenery. At this rate, she would have to travel more in the rain. She might as well pass the time, right? ...Nothing else to do. "So I heard about all the different packs here little bit from some other creatures. Are you part of one?" She closed her eyes again, too physically exhausted to keep them open. She had a feeling she would fall asleep while talking to this poor creature. Oh well. It's not like she'd see him again. "And do you know anything about the others?" Still she was mumbling into her paws. Probably bad manners, but she didn't really care right now. __________________________________________

Kendrick Drow narrowly avoided being slammed into a crag as the winds grew more and more powerful. Fighting the wind was draining the beast, as his great wings beat to keep him aloft. He needed to get above the winds before he could find a suitable place to land. True, he wasn't the best flier out there, and his metal leg threw him off balance. But after years of working with it, he could still navigate pretty well. Bringing down the massive sails, he soared upwards, flattening his feather crest against the rain. He was built for among the most hostile environments, the mountains and tundra, where the definition of cold was many degrees below freezing. The fur of his tail and that of his chest and such did not absorb the water, nor did the feathers.
As he continued to move higher, he noticed how the wind seemed smoother, since it was no longer simply reeling off the rugged mountain side. Kendrick tried to think of the best way to land as his sharp eyes sought out a general spot to land. As he neared it, he would pick a spot, but from this height, the caves weren’t so easily spotted. Diving would be the only feasible option to be able to move without regard for the wind, as the force of his speed would keep him on track. He’d need to maneuver at the last second though. He doubted the landing would be graceful, but that didn’t particularly matter at the moment. Continuing to hover for a second more, he twisted in the air and folded his wings to his sides, dropping from the air.
The rain stung at this speed, but his third eyelid protected the azure orbs as he came steadily closer to the rocks. He could see the cave now, and Kendrick prepared to land in a few seconds. His wings unfurled immediately, and he seemed to stop dead. A pained expression flickered across the wyvern’s features as he felt the exertion. He held it for a few seconds more before he was ten feet away from the ground. A gust behind him thrust him at the mountain side, and Kendrick latched his talons into the rocks and closed his feathering wings before he was tugged from the rock. He willed the sails to disappear, and he felt the odd, slightly painful sensation of the wings “retracting.” Finally, he had a good grip on the rock, dexterous hands quite helpful in this situation as he moved up the rock face, jumping here and there, obviously well adapted. The only thing made him seem like a strange was the loud clang from each time he artificial leg hit the stone.
Slipping into the cave, the serpent didn’t take notice to the two who were already present. His crest poofed then flattened to disperse most of the water. He gave his torso a quick shaking, jerking each of his feet to rid the liquid from the long fur on each. He strode forward, head lowering as the opening had been quite a dealer higher as far as the ceiling went. His tail cracked like a whip as it came out of the rain, all the water collected from the long, fluffy fur thrown off in a miniature shower. Snarling loudly as his head contacted with a hidden piece the jutted for the ceiling, he turned his head down to watch some of the broken pieces tumble. It was then that he realized he was not alone. The wyrm had not seen them at first as both had pelts that didn’t contrast greatly with the cave itself. Unlike when he was on his own territory, he didn’t feel the need for aggression so much. “Sorry to intrude,” he stated coolly, finding that mentioning he was a Viriun on this land could be hazardous. He hadn’t a clue if they were renegades or residents. The dark female looked dangerous, and he still found animals with empty irises a bit eerie. The bird looked swift but was not physically a threat. Searching for a dry rock, he laid down, curling almost his entire body on the rock, serpentine indeed. Most of his body wasn’t visible behind the fluff of his tail. Only his head rested on top. “Did I interrupt something?” he inquired, apparently a bit tired but he didn’t need to come off as rude.

Novei's words were hardly comforting to the little bird. Just like the way she eye'd him with that smirk. He'd slowly let his feathers settle though when she lay down and asked "So I heard about all the different packs here little bit from some other creatures. Are you part of one?" He rose his head slightly proud, tucking his wings to his sides. "I'm a Kinir." He looked her over for a moment, red eyes thoughtful. "You're a Renegade?
|
" He asked, coming to that conclusion by the way she'd asked her second question. " Well us Kinir are best of bother worlds I suppose. The Viriun believe in him like we do but seem to have a hard time enjoying themselves. While on the other hand Nihil don't believe in him at all yet enjoy themselves well enough." He snapped his beak thoughtfully. " Do you believ-" He hissed as water hit him once more. Spreading his wings slightly to keep his balance as he shook his small head. Protective lids dulling his vivid red gaze for a moment. Glaring at the be creature that had suddenly appeared he pressed himself up against the wall, once more fluffing up to look bigger. Great another one. If only the rain and wing let up he could make a break for it. If they didn't eat him before then and he took to the air, they'd not have the chance to.
