WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND... IS THAT DREAMS AREN'T ALWAYS JUST IN YOUR MIND. [bg=ffffff][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] - - ||you don't believe in ||

Pastels seemed to drip from the sky to meet the water during the gloaming. The sun had just set, and yet, night had not fallen. Most assuredly, it was about to, unless He decided against it, of course.
Abraxas' lone figure trotted parallel to the shores. It didn't seem like the feathered canine was there for any particular reason, save checking up on his land. He was wandering determinedly towards the large metal bridge, which had long ago crumbled mostly into the waters. His thoughts were nowhere, and he was set only on that bridge, deciding it would be good to survey the land, especially at night. Overgrown hawks had been flying amok lately, making their roosts high in the old metal trees of the city. - But my wings are certainly superior to theirs. - Abraxas thought, shuffling his feathers mid-stride.
The red-tinged structure loomed forth, and Abraxas took a moment to narrow his amber eyes in curious thought. He had lived here for quite some time, and knew this place well, but that didn't mean it couldn't shift at any time. He even remembered when one small Viriun feline had plunged the hundreds of feet into the ocean to her death.
Nevertheless, he trudged on self-importantly, the deep blues, blacks, and greys of his fur refracting the changing colors of the sky. It had been quiet lately, no signs from Him. Usually, this was considered good, but Abraxas was leery. His fur stood a bit more on edge, and everyone was jumpier than normal.
Certainly, He was planning something.
Abraxas didn't deign to question what it was, and accepted that he was merely a subject of Him. However, he still hoped that their God was planning something. Perhaps to bring them a step closer to Paradise? But it didn't matter, anyways. The Lord's timing was always perfect, He was never wrong. - Never. -
Abraxas pitied those that didn't yet understand that.
As he approached the bridge, Axa's thoughts focused more on the present, as he peered up the large distance to the top. Fortunately, the concrete and pillars had collapsed in such a way that it was climbable, and rather sturdy. With something resembling grace for his size, Abraxas lept up the stone, claws seeking purchase on the rough, textured concrete. - Wish I was a fucking gryphon, damn this. - Making his way to the top, it was somewhat slow going as he thought about his next move - certain paths were easier than others, but the stones shifted constantly.
At last, he was close. He was on one of the last stones, and the only one he could make his way to easily. The next jump would put him on the top of the bridge, and he could survey the land. Dead metal worms hung limply from inside the stone of the bridge, and he sniffed one carefully - sometimes they moved, and here, one could never be too certain.
Crouching, powerful muscles in his back legs bunched. Tendons were taut, as his front paws hovered gently above the surface he was standing upon. With a determined look and a bristling of fur, he took the final jump, soaring the distance and landing with three paws firmly on ground, the back right scrabbling slightly at the edge, but he snorted in disdain before pulling himself up. "Damned stones are growing, it seems." He muttered to himself, blaming it for his own mistakes.
From here, he could see everything and everyone, almost. Even though it was night now, there was light coming from an old, decorated building. Fire, it was, and some had the ability to summon it. They usually did to keep them warm, especially now that it was autumn. The air was brisker up here, a breeze decorated with salt coming off of the sea. Turning his eyes, he could barely see the mountains to the southeast, a living barrier between the Kinir and the Nihil. - Those idiots and their falsehoods, - he thought disdainfully, - He will condemn them all soon enough. -

e z c a c o a t l K i n i r | T e a c A shadow drifted across the sky, lofty and careless in appearance. It's black silhouette contrasted deeply with the pinks and oranges of the setting sun, though the creature that claimed ownership of the black mass didn't seem at all worried about being found out. It dipped lazily toward the metal trees of the Viriun territory, though he did not consider himself one of them.
They took things way too seriously.
Tezcacoatl was driven to the rocky remains for one reason only: hunger. It was autumn now, and ever creature was beginning to feel it in their bones. Though Kinir's forests were still abundant in food, the giant wyvern did not wish to make himself a nuisance by eating it all. His clan mates always joked about his voracious appetite, but he could hear the tune of annoyance underneath their words. He wasn't angry at them. He would be pissed as well.
So instead of hunting in the defined territory of his clan, he figured he would hunt outside of it. Viriun had been quiet lately. He knew that even if he was caught, Viriun didn't have quite the same attitude with Kinir as they did with Nihil. If he was lucky, however, he would encounter no trouble, and he could slip in and out unnoticed.
He wasn't lucky, of course.
It was only after he had slain the boar that he noticed the lone figure on the bridge. Tezca narrowed his eyes to try to figure out exactly who it was. He could not make out the figure easily, but it was canine in shape... and the Viriun leader was an ebony wolf. It would have been obvious to spot the giant wyvern in the skies, or if the creature was blind, they would have heard the shrieks of his prey before he dealt the killing blow. He had to be spotted.
This might not end well.

Something wicked caught his gaze as Abraxas was scanning the area. Turning, he saw the striking shadow of a large creature - a wyvern - passing through the skies. No wyvern he knew of in Viriun had that shape or that design, he knew. Watching keenly as the thing descended upon a boar that was meandering down the Cold Wash, Abraxas made his presence known by standing tall.
The creature appeared to have spotted him, and he could practically hear the 'oh shit' happening in its mind now. Although Abraxas had not perhaps been seen by all, he certainly was known as the Viriun leader, and this wyvern would figure it out soon enough. - Fucking seriously, I just hauled my ass all the way up here. - Abraxas thought as he lept down the giant crumbled stones. The trip down took a lot less time, and he was significantly more graceful, feathers streaming in the now moonlight.
Upon reaching the bottom, the large canine male made his way across the grey, wet sand to the corpse and the wyvern. He held his head high, amber eyes refracting more light than they did during the day, giving him an eerie, almost ghostlike quality. Stepping up to the male, only a head or two shorter, he looked up, and spoke...
"Nice weather tonight, huh?"
He asked, peering up at the wyvern with an intense look in his eyes. Small talk was not really his suit. "Perfect weather for hunting indeed. Especially the thermals up there - in autumn, those are quite a rarity." Eyes never leaving the face of the other, "Even the breeze off the sea is less frigid than it normally is this time of year, surely made for an easy flight." After this, Abraxas broke off and chuckled, staring after the sea.
"So unless the Kinir are having some sort of natural disaster," he paused to look towards the east before moving his gaze back towards the oblivion of the ocean. "I don't understand why you'd willingly subject one of my family to an empty belly. And in times like these, starvation certainly can spell death for one of our little ones."
Eerie eyes turned back, hard as flint but smoldering in their depths. The anger that was not before present was there now in full force, and he questioned, "Do you often kill?"

e z c a c o a t l K i n i r | T e a c 'Oh shit', indeed.
Tezca lifted his head from his catch as soon as he saw the older male jumping down from his perch. It meandered toward him with a look about his eye, a 'I'm better than you and you know it' look. Perhaps it was a vision from God? But then why would He choose a wolf, of all things? Didn't God make the creatures of this world even? Why would a wolf be His favorite? And why would He talk to him, of all creatures? - No. No God would attempt to contact me. - But he couldn't shake the feeling that something besides an ordinary creature sat behind the night-colored wolf's eyes.
This wasn't going to end well, he just knew it.
"Nice weather tonight, huh? Perfect weather for hunting indeed. Especially the thermals up there - in autumn, those are quite a rarity. Even the breeze off the sea is less frigid than it normally is this time of year, surely made for an easy flight." Since Tezcacoatl was waiting for some type of attack or rebuke, this idle chit-chat threw him somewhat off guard. He eyed the creature warily and took a step away from the boar. No meat was worth angering God. When the God-creature chuckled, though, Tez felt fear, true fear, and knew it showed in his eyes. His laugh didn't feel normal. - This wolf is not a God, Tez. - The dragon scolded himself. It couldn't be a God or a ghost; it had to be insane or diseased. Maybe a bit of both."So unless the Kinir are having some sort of natural disaster, I don't understand why you'd willingly subject one of my family to an empty belly. And in times like these, starvation certainly can spell death for one of our little ones."[/s] Ahh, that sounded more like the manipulation the Viriun would use. The lizard gave a slight smirk, confident once again. His confidence didn't faulter, even when he felt the full force of the wolf's anger turned toward him with those eyes of his. "Do you often kill?"[/s] "Of course I kill. I killed this boar 'ere, didn't I?" His smirk was still plastered across his face as he ruffled his wings a bit. Oh, he knew that's not what the Viriun meant, but he didn't feel the need to respond directly to such bait just yet.__________________________________________ notes x. - Yay, I'm typing more! muse x. - Counting Bodies Like Sheep [/blockquote]

WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND... IS THAT DREAMS AREN'T ALWAYS JUST IN YOUR MIND. [bg=ffffff][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] - - ||you don't believe in ||

This creature seemed to fear him. Its eyes grew wide, and he stepped slightly away from his kill. There was little left of it, but still... It wouldn't do to just let this wyvern go unharmed, would it? And so far away from help. Baring his teeth slightly in the half-light of the moon, a sneer plastered on his face. Words followed his own,
"Of course I kill. I killed this boar 'ere, didn't I?"
- Bullshitting bastard. - Abraxas thought slyly, licking his lips as he met the other's unwavering gaze. A slow, languid smile moved up the scarred maw of the feathered canine, stretching his lips so much it hurt. Oh no, Axa was not insane. But he knew he unnerved this one. "You Kinir are almost Godless, and only place faith in politics, correct?" he asked, not waiting for a reply. "So tell me, what would happen if I let you leave here unharmed? Certainly, the Viriun would be mocked, my leadership questioned, and chaos would ensue."
Pretending to ponder and choose his next words carefully, he said, "And we both know I won't let that happen. So, your two choices are to turn tail and have me pursue you, or decide to fight me." Abraxas rolled his eyes here, but seeing as they were just pits, it did not have the intended effect. "Am I correct in my political logic? I do believe so. And then, if I was to kill you, the Kinir, self-righteous that they are, would storm the place, and perhaps lives would be lost. All for you."
"Orrrr," he said, dragging out the r in exaggeration, trying to unnerve the larger other. "I could just let you go on your word that if you did say something, I'd seek bloodshed and retribution as my pound of flesh." The empty look he had been giving the other before melted into a smile this time, eyes alight like embers in the darkness. "But you know, I've always been one for revenge, old bastard that I am. So - what should we do here? You and I both know that the Harbinger of Viriun could take down a Teac, indeed. So, political one, what exactly do you have in mind for our exchange?"

e z c a c o a t l K i n i r | T e a c Tezca shouldn't have let his fear show. That bastard would take any opportunity he got, of this he was sure. "You Kinir are almost Godless, and only place faith in politics, correct?" Tezca raised his head again, wary. He half expected the old geezer to jump for his throat right there. "So tell me, what would happen if I let you leave here unharmed? Certainly, the Viriun would be mocked, my leadership questioned, and chaos would ensue."[/s] That would indeed happen. The group he came from were a... tempermental bunch. Tezcacoatl gave a slight hum instead of a worded answer."And we both know I won't let that happen. So, your two choices are to turn tail and have me pursue you, or decide to fight me." The 'I won't let this happen' part only sounded half-truthful to the wyvern's ears, but he decided not to word this. He was aleady on shaky ground. He knew that if he were to fight here and be slain, his whole clan would come for blood. And were they stronger...? He didn't want to bet their lives on it. "Am I correct in my political logic? I do believe so. And then, if I was to kill you, the Kinir, self-righteous that they are, would storm the place, and perhaps lives would be lost. All for you." Tez gave a silent chuckle. They seemed to think alike."Orrrr, I could just let you go on your word that if you did say something, I'd seek bloodshed and retribution as my pound of flesh."[/s] Tezca didn't like the smile that graced the other's features after he said that. What did the Viriun have planned...? What if his clan found out without Tezca's help? They would still might be slain. The lizard's sky-blue eyes narrowed and his nostrels flaired. -It would be best for Kinir if I could finish this now. - But then his shoulders sagged and he let out a sigh as he gave it some more thought. - But I doubt this brute got to lead his pack through his charming personality. -"But you know, I've always been one for revenge, old bastard that I am. So - what should we do here? You and I both know that the Harbinger of Viriun could take down a Teac, indeed. So, political one, what exactly do you have in mind for our exchange?" Tezca thought for a moment, wondering which situation would give him the best outcome. He couldn't find one. "I don't suppose ya could just go off and die, eh? A grim smile spread across features marred with scars and silver. "I don't suppose ya could just go off and die, eh? I really think that'd be the best for us both, old dog. What answer can I give ya that will keep me and Kinir alive? Besides you just runnin' off that there water bridge..."
- So he does have a little fight after all, it seems. - Abraxas thought to himself, and raised his head high. One slate brow raised above amber eyes, and he spoke, "Funny, I was thinking the same thing about you." With a merciless chuckle, he moved his front legs, feathers flared. "Unfortunately for you, I can fly. So thus, you haven't solved our problems, have you? So I'm going to tell you what's going to happen. First off, I'm going to do this-"
With that, the large, deep blue male charged quickly at the wyvern, slashing deeply at the other's face with sharp teeth, rending flesh and green scales. Quickly, he lept back, silver now stained slightly with crimson. "And now you're going to leave. Tell the Kinir I was merciful - for I am -, and do not hunt here again, or you might escape with a bit more than a scar." Raising his head in obvious challenge and threat, the Harbinger looked almost kind, had there not been blood dripping from his maw. - You should take my offer, wyvern. Do not do something you'll regret. - For as much as Abraxas was violent and protective of the Viriun, he saw no need to slaughter this animal and potentially injure himself in the process - the lesson was learned, and the threat was extinguished. "However, it was nice talking with you. Perhaps we will meet again on better terms, wyvern."

"Funny, I was thinking the same thing about you." The black wolf before him spoke again. He really liked his own voice, didn't he? But then his arm-wing-things flared up, and they looked a might bit deadly. "Unfortunately for you, I can fly. So thus, you haven't solved our problems, have you? So I'm going to tell you what's going to happen. First off, I'm going to do this-" Tezcacoatl didn't have time to react. At one point the wolf was on the ground, the next in his face. Pain flashed on the right side of his face, right under his eye. It seems... he was hit. He wasn't used to pain much. "And now you're going to leave. Tell the Kinir I was merciful - for I am -, and do not hunt here again, or you might escape with a bit more than a scar." Tez barely heard what the creature said, his mind focused on the blood on his cheek. It would heal, of course, and he would live, but there would probably be a scar there for the rest of his life. But the Viriun didn't seem to be threatening him. It appeared satisfied.
"However, it was nice talking with you. Perhaps we will meet again on better terms, wyvern." "I guess I deserved that, a bit. But me face? Really, old lad? What would the lass's think?" His shock of being attacked so suddenly was obviously over and his usual humor was coming back. He swung his head a bit, clearing the blood off his face by splattering it on the sand. "But, if ya don't mind, I'd like to be here a might bit longer, old lad. It took me a good flight ta get 'ere, ya know." In truth, he didn't want to go back to that pack of scavengers with blood on his face. WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND... IS THAT DREAMS AREN'T ALWAYS JUST IN YOUR MIND. [bg=ffffff][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] - - ||you don't believe in ||

The grizzled old Harbinger snorted in satisfaction at the surprised look on the wyvern's face. Offering a sneer in recompense, he sat down, legs akimbo, with his feathers brushed out to either side, scuffling gently against the ground. His mind was empty now, the thread neutralized, and as he waited for the wyvern to recover, he gazed up at the sky, where the stars were just about to come out. With one wary eye on the wyvern, he relaxed at the other's words -
"But, if ya don't mind, I'd like to be here a might bit longer, old lad. It took me a good flight ta get 'ere, ya know."
Chuckling lightly to himself, not bothering to affirm the fact that the male did indeed deserve what the Harbinger had given, Abraxas raised a silver brow above the pitiless, bright orange. "Perhaps you would care to discuss the weather some more?" he questioned, amused smile appearing on his jaws. Teeth still sharp but yellowed with age, one canine missing a slight point to it, but jagged nonetheless, were bared in a sharper grin, reflecting the light of the moon. "And although your scales are not nearly as nice as fur," Abraxas stated, and his red tongue licked his chest fur slightly in emphasis, "Don't worry, chicks dig the scars." At this, Abraxas wrinkled his nose in amusement as he wondered to himself, - I should probably be out for his blood right now. - his eyes grew a bit hard, - Especially with what's been going on in Rotting. - Not wanting to get caught up in the memory, he brought himself to the present, and decided to enjoy socializing with this other male. But oh, what had been happening! His dreams lately, he couldn't wake on command, it seemed. They were endless, wracked with carnage and gore. Terrible creatures, the world gone in a bloody fire, skies dark with hate. Everything was disgusting, and as Abraxas padded through those dreams, he too began to waste away, flesh melting and tumors sprouting as he lit aflame. - Probably just nightmares. - But he did wonder... - What is He trying to say? - His God was not clear, but something awful seemed to be in their midst. And a war would not benefit anyone. He felt almost sad that this wyvern would be gone though - he was amusing. - But all the sinners must perish before Paradise can come unto us all. -
Deciding to snap once again back to the present, Abraxas offered another grin, grounding himself in the moment and not the horrors of sleep, "You know that I am Abraxas, but I don't know your name," At this, he trailed off slightly, before grinning and tossing his nose in the air, gesturing at the wyvern's new, bloody wound. "Handsome."

His eyes seemed lifeless and dull. He looked rather... meek. For a moment at least. Then he came back, eyes looking at his own once again, and a grin to dismiss his troubles. Tezca thought to ask what was wrong, but realized that the other probably wouldn't even admit to something being wrong in the first place. He was proud; most Viriun were. And they were enemies. Yeah. The autumn air was cool, crisp, and full of the scents of the scarred earth the creatures lived apon. Slowly the sun had surely set as it does every night, slowly the slight cold had silently edged it fingers and finally grasped the world around it. But the darkness had yet to come. The sand still retained the heat of the ever shortening days and this pleased the paws that walk over them, sketching a mark of prints behind all who walk a crossed the sands. The sky was seemingly melting away, ever darker, ever colder...
However, none of this natural beauty was on the mind of the lone alabaster dog the trudged along the shore with a face distorted in frustration. Onchú grunted as she quickly made her way, neither caring nor worrying about the fact she was head long in enemy land, it didn't matter to her, the sun was setting faster then she had hoped. "I get stuck with having to find him, of course it would have to be me, zut alors..." the dog though bitterly "When I find him, he better have a damn good excuse for running off". Every thing seemed to be out to ruin her. Not only had Tezcacoatl ran off before dark, be he had run into Viruin land. Drift wood and rocks dotted the shore, casting eerie shadows along the all ready distorted sands. Onchú quivered and halted, casting her gaze back over her shoulder, eyes deep with longing. She could turn back now, but their was no way she would make it back before the suns final rays left the earth, but Onchú also had no idea where the giant reptile was, it could take hours to find him.
Or not. The dogs cropped ears perked as the sounds of voices echoed a crossed the sands. Two maybe? One she knew was Tezcacoatl, but the other she did not recognize, perhaps it was best she didn't, for she might have turn and ran. Blinded by her fear of the dark, Onchú began to pick up her speed. The eerie echoes gently flowed into her ears, the two seemed to be talking of...The weather? Giving her head a good shake, the blurry out line of the two figures came into view. A winged wolf and the wyvern. "Winged wolf?" She almost stumbled head over heels in her sudden stop, digging her paws deeply into the now cool sand. Watching the large beast lunge and strike Tezcacoatl only made the dog grow more sure of her anwser. It was Abraxas, leader of the Viriun. Racket with fear, Onchú inhaled deeply and slow pressed on. Maybe if she just pretended he wasn't there, things would go by faster. Catching the tip of the last conversation, Onchú quietly approached the two large creatures, making sure to keep her eyes off the winged wolf. "Tezcacoatl.. We should go" .:Thoughts:. I hope you don't mind I jumped in, feel free to ignore me hurr.

Noticing a lightly colored female canine trotting up, Abraxas ignored her in favor of hearing this Tez's last words,
"Yeah, all the lass's be clamberin' to me now, aren't they? No, none of them want someone like me. I'd crush them durin' the love-makin', ya know."
A rumbling chuckle came forth from the large, slate colored male, and he smirked right back at the wyvern, and said, "The lonely life for you then, I suppose. Or better yet, strike up a relationship with a rock or something. Should be about right." he said, curling an upper lip, gesturing with his maw towards a large building nearby, "Or one of them, look at her, she's just asking for it." A lazy tongue rolled out of his mouth in the night, and Abraxas noted that the female had drawn closer, and seemed submissive. She smelled of Kinir, and his eyes smoldered in her direction, willing her to just leave with his mind.
But alas, "Tezcacoatl.. We should go." she said. Deciding that this was very boring indeed, and he had no desire to get more sleep, Abraxas drew near to her, lowering his face to her level, and said, "Why such a rush, dear? Surely you'd like to stay around and sample Viriun like your friend did." At this, Abraxas decided another glare added for good measure wouldn't hurt the large wyvern much.
"Unless, of course, you care to throw away my kind hospitality. We were just discussing the weather, perhaps you would like to as well." He said, wrinkling his silver-flecked nose before straightening, with a tilt to his head. - Choose your next words carefully, sweetheart. -
