Sid was lost. Hopelessly, undeniably, lost. Her ice blue gaze swung around the cavern she was stuck in. It was large, a pocket with small waterfalls trickling down walls and dripping from stalactites that thrust from the ceiling, collecting in the center of the underground grotto to form a crystal-clear pool. The cave was shaped like a conic jewel, the sides sloping and a pinpoint of light spiraling down like a spotlight from the ceiling. The whole place had a mystical sort of feel to it, like it was sacred. The foliage around it was so bright green, the water so blue. The air was alive with butterflies that flit about merrily. It was as if she'd entered a new world. All because of that rabbit. Damn her curiosity. She'd been wandering around, minding her own business, when she's spotted a little, fluffy rabbit out of the corner of her eye. Being the crazy little wolf she was, she'd followed it, of course. Why wouldn't she? The rabbit, being the skittish little thing it was, had led her to the place she knew as the Gaping Maw. Paying no mind to the warnings her mother had told her about getting lost within the tunnels and caves, she'd followed the fluffy creature into the darkness. Her trusted guide. And then her guide disappeared, leaving her lost without the slightest clue where she was. So she'd wandered, hoping to find her way out or at least someone to socialize with. She'd been alone for at least three hours. She had heard echoes in the caverns, and, her spirits lifting, she raced towards the source. But when the echoes were at their loudest, she found the cavern the voices were coming from to be empty. Terrified, she'd ran away as best she could, but the voices had followed. She was then convinced the Gaping Maw was haunted.
So there she was, in this beautiful grotto that was like a paradise. You didn't have to tell her twice to find a nice place to rest. Her paws were aching from the hard rocks on the ground, digging into her pawpaws and leaving them raw. Of course, complaining would do no good, for there was nobody with her to complain to.
Sid sucked in a breath and began picking her way down the sharp incline. She saw a big, low-lying tree not too far from the entrance she'd come from. She could see holes of all sizes and shapes that pocked the walls. She was glad she'd entered from a low entrance and not one twenty feet off the ground. Suddenly she felt a sharp prick at her paws and let out a yelp that echoed through the cave, sending pebbles tumbling and clacking down the walls. She lifted her paw to examine it. A sharp rock had cut into her paw pad, leaving a small, bleeding slit. She began to lick gently at the wound, letting out high-pitched whines. Pain was not Sid's friend in the slightest.

Padding through the land more barren than his own, Abraxas stopped amongst the shrubs and low-lying trees. He was skirting the edge of Viriun territory, after leaving his members off on some chore or other for the day. The autumn air swept across the plain from the north. Tilting his head up, he could sense the sea on the air, and his empty eyes turned wistful for a second as he remembered his home. However, it was early yet, and he was not concerned about the miles that spread between him and his land. - What the fuck is going to mess with me anyways? - Abraxas snorted, questioning himself.
"Yip!"
Ears pricked now and fur standing on edge, the large, blue-washed male wondered exactly what was so foolish as to make such a stupid noise. It was followed by tiny whimpers of pain, and they sounded vaguely canine to Abraxas. He knew of no Viriun who was such a pussy, and he prided himself on his pain tolerance. However, it might be worth checking out. Perhaps a Nihil got itself into trouble? He would strew their entrails all over that damned canyon of theirs.
Another whimper sounded, and Abraxas closed in, amber pits narrowed at the mouth of the Gaping Maw. Something stupid had gotten stuck down there and injured itself, he assumed. - Pitiful bitches. - Axa thought, and smirked as his sure feet climbed slowly down. The lush trees and moisture did not pose much of a problem for him as he headed in, eyes glowing eerily in the half-light of the cave. A figure was laying down, licking at itself. As he approached closer, his feathers and teeth bristled and bared, it was revealed to be a small female.
Chuckling lightly, he announced his presence with that sound. A tiny brown bitch? Upon further scenting the air, it revealed that she was indeed a Nihil. Curling up his scarred muzzle into a sneer, he rose to full height, ears aggressively pointed forward, orange, pupilless eyes keen and alight in the darkness.
"Hello, beauty. I'm thinking your heart and viscera would make a beautiful decoration for my home."

e z c a c o a t l K i n i r | T e a c Tezcacoatl was minding his own business, taking in the quiet that the caves provided him, when a rabbit shot past his nose. He grabbed it on instinct, then stood up and shook the thing until it became quiet. He stood still a moment longer, bewildered at the events that just took place, then gulped the hare down. A tiny snack like that wasn't much to the wyvern, but he wasn't expecting a meal in this place, anyway.
That's when the echo of a creature in pain resounded across the cave walls. Tez tilted his head, attempting to pinpoint the sound, but found it useless after a few moments of trying. However, he couldn't leave the hurt alone, so he began to look for the unknown creature. Dang his morals.
It didn't take long for him to find the tiny wolf. And took less time to figure out what was going on. "Hello, beauty. I'm thinking your heart and viscera would make a beautiful decoration for my home."
Tez let out a slight hiss after the ebony wolf's words. He didn't like threatening or harming the innocent, no matter their schism. "Don't hurt the lass, mongrel. There was chuckle, and Sid's gaze flicked upward to lock on two floating amber orbs. Her loneliness vanished when she saw a large, bluish wolf step out of the shadows. It was obviously a male. Or a very, very masculine female. She tested the air with her nose, and this wolf smelled funny. "Hey. You're from another..." she began, but her voice was quiet and apparently, the male hadn't heard it.
"Hello, beauty. I'm thinking your heart and viscera would make a beautiful decoration for my home." She felt her face flush and she looked down at her paws. "Aww shucks," she murmured. "Wait, what's a visc-"
"Don't hurt the lass, mongrel. Though yer God may love ya and cherish ya for hurtin' a non-believer, I ain't goin' to. And, seein' as I'm the only one who can hurt ya and not your God, I would like it if ya backed away now."
Interrupted again. She hadn't even noticed the big wyvern approach. Nor did she notice the hostility crackling in the air. Sid was too busy assessing the wyvern, ice blue orbs scanning the creature. It was a male, too, she noticed. Of course, you could never be sure with the giant lizards. The wyvern's mouth had sharp teeth that flashed when he spoke. Stuck in between these teeth were tiny clumps of fur. Golden fur unlike any she'd ever seen before. Except for... Horror spread across Sid's face. She leapt to her paws and screeched, "YOU ATE THE BUNNY!"
Sure, she was going to eat it anyways, probably, but things were different when other people ate little, fluffy bunnies. Especially little, fluffy, gold bunnies.

[ c o m e o u t o f y o u r c a v e w a l k i n g o n y o u r h a n d s...]
Arete's talons curved to the form of the jagged rock as she descended upon it. The earthy colored gryphon flexed her wings, beating the air rapidly in resistance to her momentum before pulling them into her sides. Her tail dangled limply over the edge of the crag, swaying idly in the breeze as she crouched on the ledge. Beak raised, the she-gryph inhaled slowly, savoring what was left of summer's sweet scent. Although He was a wrathful god, he was merciful enough to allow his creatures an occasional pleasure to remind them of the reward. When the great Lord finally returned, all his followers were to receive paradise. lowering her fore-claws to the ground, Arete prayed the day would soon come and advanced into the small cavern she called home.
The gaping maw was a vast, extensive network of caves and hollows, but occasionally a smaller section would become blocked off, leaving only a small entrance into the labyrinth. Such sections, being discovered, were ideal shelters for any creature of the air. Arete had been lucky enough to stumble upon one the previous autumn and had inhabited it since, undisturbed. Despite how ideal the cavern was, not many were willing to enter the gaping maw at all, much less live in it.
Arete slipped through the wide crack that joined her small cell with the rest of the tunnels, plunging into the darkness. Having returned from an unsuccessful hunt, she was heading to retrieve the last portion of her previous catch from where she had stored it when a sharp yip pierced her ears. Startled, the Gryph snapped her head in the direction of the noise and extended her ears slightly, attempting to capture any remaining sound waves. A new sound met her ears now, slightly lower in pitch, but still holding pain. Intrigued, she weaved through to tunnels toward the source of the noise. It was quite a distance until her path spread out, revealing a huge dome-shaped cavity where the yelp's origin stood, whimpering. Pale light filled the place, filtering in through gaps in the ceiling. It revealed another figure-- a black wolf with feathers strewn out across his forelegs. It was Abraxas, leader of the Viriun.
He stood before the small brown female, his dark, threatening form contrasting her small, submissive one. From her spot at the edge of the dome, Arete could see the hunger in his eyes. She must be a Kinir... thought the Gryphess, inspecting the female's scent. Or, no... a Nihil? What's she doing here of all places? Surely the female knew better than to venture onto Viriun territories, especially carrying the scent of the Nihil. Tolerence was not something the Viriun were known for, and if Abraxas attacked her, which he would, she would not stand a chance. Arete rustled uncomfortably. She hated to see an innocent slain, even if they denied him.
Suddenly, a scaly green form entered her sight, casing a few scattered beams of light into her eyes. she squinted a little, retreating into the shadows while listening to his words. To her surprise, his words were of defense.
"Don't hurt the lass, mongrel. Though yer God may love ya and cherish ya for hurtin' a non-believer, I ain't goin' to. And, seein' as I'm the only one who can hurt ya and not your God, I would like it if ya backed away now."
With a creature of substantial size on her side, the small wolfess may actually stand a chance. Of course, the leader of the Viriun was not likely to be intimidated by one creature, regardless of size. Two? maybe. Arete had little strength on her side, but she was agile and witty. Extending her wings, the Gryphon cleared her expression and glided closer to the group of creatures. She landed a safe distance away from Abraxas and the brown she-wolf, straying slightly closer to the dragon but within talking distance.
"It is only the Lord who reserves the right to punish," She stated, not letting fear tint her voice. "You dare interfere with his plan?" Although she was not a Viriun, Arete purposefully attempted to sound like one when she spoke. It wasn't likely that Abraxas would fall for this, she knew, but it was still better to talk to the enemy on their own terms.

Suddenly she was surrounded by such large creatures. They loomed over her, and seemed to be angry at the big dark blue one with feathers. She frowned, unsure why they were being so mean to him. He seemed nice! He'd even complimented her innards! And what was all this talk about Gods? It had absolutely nothing to do with anything! With the rabbit gone from her mind, she quickly leapt to the big wolf's side, staring up at him with wide blue eyes, pink nose twitching as she examined him. She then returned her stare to the other two- the big lizard and his feathered friend. Her mouth was slanted in a comically disapproving glare- or, at least, as close to a glare as one as happy as she could get. "There is no reason to be mean to him," she scolded at them, shaking her head for emphasis. She looked up at the big brute and flashed him an overenthusiastic grin, lips pulling back until it almost looked like she was extremely angry. She even nudged him with her shoulder, tail wagging wildly. And then her demeanor switched like a light, her face once again becoming serious and full of motherlike scolding. She gave the two quick, affirming nod, plopping onto her hindquarters as she did so.

WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND... IS THAT DREAMS AREN'T ALWAYS JUST IN YOUR MIND. [bg=ffffff][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] - - ||you don't believe in ||

Suddenly, a gargantuon beast stepped out of the half-light of the cave. Its green and blue scales reflected the orange light of Abraxas' eyes, as he took in this newest addition.
"Don't hurt the lass, mongrel. Though yer God may love ya and cherish ya for hurtin' a non-believer, I ain't goin' to. And, seein' as I'm the only one who can hurt ya and not your God, I would like it if ya backed away now."
- The fuck does he think he is? - He thought, totally ignoring the tiny female's speech from before. This now was a very real threat, this Kinir, and was getting in the way of him and this Nihil's... fun time. Snarling his grizzled maw, he bared slightly yellowed teeth, his age evident, as he turned his pitiless gaze to the new creature's face. - I guess he'll just have to-! -
YOU ATE THE BUNNY!
- WHAT THE FUCK. - finished Abraxas' string of thought, anything else had become discarded. Wisely, he decided to wait and asses the situation before determining what to do now. Was she diseased? Perhaps it was contagious if he got too close. "My Lord, what hell hath you deigned to put me through?" He muttered to himself, resigned now to his fate.
Perhaps this was all just a dream? He'd wake in Rotting with the rest of the Viriun, and amuse them with stories of the foolish Nihil and Kinir that dared speak to him. And then suddenly, a gryphon clambered into their meeting, saying "It is only the Lord who reserves the right to punish. You dare interfere with his plan?".
Who in all Hell were these people?
- This has to be a nightmare. That gryphon isn't from any Schism I can tell, and she speaks like a Viriun. What. - By this time, Abraxas' thoughts were more muddled than most, and he just wanted to get out of this Twilight Zone. Mind you, he would have probably stayed and fought if he felt threatened by any of this, and these others, but right now, the tiny, stupid female that needed to be eliminated from the gene pool was protected.
"There is no reason to be mean to him,"
And she was protecting him? Dear Lord, this had to be a dream He concocted up. What had Abraxas done to displease Him? Or maybe he was just too stressed.... He'd look into this later, for now, he'd just play along. "Learn to live a little," he snorted at the larger dragon, while managing not to flinch away at the female's touch. "We were just playing around. You should try it sometime. Or maybe you were pretending to be her knight in shining armor, hmm?" At this, he leveled a gaze at the wyvern, bristling slightly to show that he was not intimidated by him. If anything, he could just grow his wings and kick this youngster's scrappy little ass. "Perhaps you're here to do as I suggested?"
The tiny female nodded at them all before sitting down. Abraxas cast a wary look at the gryphon, wondering who she was. If she believed in religion, but apparently not natural selection ( abraxas style. ), she could still be of some use to him and to Viriun. Perhaps, perhaps. "Well, now that that's all cleared up, can we get the hell out of here?" Abraxas questioned, maw gesturing towards the light.
- 'Cause if this turns nasty, I'll want to be outside. - he thought, shuffling his cobalt feathers slightly in anticipation.

"YOU ATE THE BUNNY!" The loud shriek emitted from that tiny female overpowered the lizard for a moment, and he staggered away from the wolfess, stunned. A 'what the hell just happened' ran through his mind, but then he righted himself.
"...Yes, lass. I have to eat to keep myself alive, as do you. Have you never killed a creature before?" The green-and-blue rex spoke quietly, bemused. This was one strange wolf. He glanced at the giant ebony Viriun, then shifted more toward the gryphess. She seemed to be the only sane one here.
"There is no reason to be mean to him," The brown wolf spoke again, apparently calm this time. Tez's jaw went slack as he stared at the stupid wolf. He suddenly became a believer of 'survival of the fittest'. He watched as the larger wolf rambled on about some lie, of that he was sure, before it suggested they all go outside. A wise idea. Then he could leave that stupid wolf to her fate.
He briefly prayed she wouldn't breed."Yes, outside sounds wonderful. Lets... lets go there quickly." The giant lizard began to move then, every footstep leaving a small earthquake in it's wake. [ c o m e o u t o f y o u r c a v e w a l k i n g o n y o u r h a n d s...] Once again, Arete had taken things a slight bit to seriously.
The she-gryph pulled back her ears, donning a lackluster expression. She'd been right to think she was unnecessary in this situation, and despite the fact that Abraxas' words were not directed towards her, she still considered them. Perhaps they were just playing knights in shining armor. What was an act of bravery, anyway, if it was just to bring attention to oneself? Arete flicked the end of her tail back and forth in a feline-like manner, as she often did when she was thinking, and observed the situation.
The brown she-wolf, still astoundingly oblivious to everything that was going on, sat in the middle of the group with a haughty grin plastered to her muzzle. Arete struggled to fathom she wasn't completely brain dead. What creature could possibly ignore the threat Abraxas had delivered? Taken literaly, his words could be considered a strange and slightly perverse compliment, as the wolfess had taken it, but it was impossible to not notice his tone and body language. The Grypess shook her head. There had to be something more to the femme, or she would not have reached her current age. But then again, perhaps she was just lucky.
When both Abraxas and the green scaled raptor suggested leaving, Arete decided she was not apposed to this idea and glanced back to the path that had led her to the cavern. The gryphess didn't fancy being followed. She stayed put, but extended her wings slightly and glanced upward to imply flying through the large gaps where shafts of sunlight filtered through to exit the cave. Of course, she planned to stay and then find her way back once they'd gone. But yet, there was the brown wolfess to worry about. Then again, it wasn't like she could make her way to the outcrop alone without growing a pair of wings. Arete kind of pitied her anyway. There was no no way she would make it out of the vast network of caves unguided, and there was an equally low chance that either the dragon or the ebony wolf would volenteer to do that. Sighing inwardly, the Gryphon decided she would offer help. But only once the others were gone.

"We're going for a walk?" she asked happily, trotting forward to keep up with the larger creatures. Her tongue lolled and she continued to gaze up at the other wolf. She felt more comfortable around other canines. She then focused on the dragon who was leading the way. And then she looked up. Wait. They weren't planning on walking out of here. She stopped dead in her tracks, face becoming serious and shocked. "You guys are just going to leave?" she asked, incredulously. She then bounded forward and nipped at the big wolf to make sure she had his attention. "You're not even going to stay for dinner? There has to be some sort of prey here!" She frowned at them, turning her gaze to each one, staring them down before moving on to the next. And then, as if a light had been switched on, she returned to her happy, oblivious state, her voice lilting with childlike innocence and jubilation. She grinned, an said cheerfully, "Besides, it's not like you have anywhere else to be."

WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND... IS THAT DREAMS AREN'T ALWAYS JUST IN YOUR MIND. [bg=ffffff][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] - - ||you don't believe in ||

Letting out a suffering sigh, the deep cobalt wolf moved forward, eager to leave. No, this day had not gone as he had planned, and he wondered exactly how low the Nihil had sunk to resort to... Adopting... this idiot creature into their clan. She most certainly was a test straight from Him, and Abraxas was determined to weather the tribulations as best he could.
"Yes, outside sounds wonderful. Let's... let's go there quickly." The wyvern suggested, and Abraxas bristled slightly in relief. He trudged with the wyvern, eyes narrowed disgustedly at how much noise the Kinir was making, and tossed a glance back at the Gryphess, nose nudging slightly as if urging her to follow. She had extended her wings and made to fly, but apparently wanted to make sure the brown wolf got out, too. - This is a cave of damned saints. - he thought, amber narrowed in the dusky cave. No matter, the Gryphon was interesting, and he figured he'd stick around, but not if it meant more of that-
"We're going for a walk?" was said as bright, cheerful blue met disgusted, damned orange. The thing was practically snuggling against him - self-control be damned! She chittered on about something for another minute and just as Abraxas was about to jump to one of the rocks to get the hell out of there, he felt something warm and sharp against his shoulder. - THAT LITTLE BITCH? - he mentally shouted, and growled, echoing in the cave. As opposed as he was to just killing things, this creature needed to be eliminated before others caught its disease. Just as he was beginning to open his maw and rip her throat out, flay her flesh and splatter her blood, she said, "Besides, it's not like you have anywhere else to be." No, no sense of self-preservation in this one at all. She must be alive simply because these good Samaritans like the gryphon and the wyvern. However, the latter was looking more and more perturbed by the second.
At this point, Abraxas just wanted to flee back to the sanity that was Viriun, and out of the cave, which He in all His marvelous glory, had forsaken. "Why, my Lord, hath you decided to test us so? What are you saying with these tribulations?" He muttered to himself, eyes narrowed.
"We're leaving." he said simply, clenching his jaw. The Lord had not given him the mental strength not to snap it around her tiny little neck if he chose to say much more. - I'm going to string her stupid fucking entrails from here to the Cold Wash, then I'm going to march down to Nihil and demand to know exactly what they did to that wolf as a pup. Or if it's genetic? A disease-!? - Snapping his teeth together in thought, he ground them as he lept up a stone and over to another before finally climbing to the area that was the cave mouth. Since fleeing was what he thought to do, but it was undignified for the Harbinger of Viriun, he let out a long sigh and waited for the rest of them.

e z c a c o a t l K i n i r | T e a c "We're going for a walk?"[/s] The little imp spoke again. Tez gave a slightly audible growl as he squeezed his eyes shut. - Maybe it's all a dream. Couldn't the thing just shut up!? - The lizard oped his blue eyes and looked up, praying to the cave cieling that the girl wouldn't say anything else stupid.
Oh, those particular prayers were never answered. Nope. Not today.
"You guys are just going to leave? You're not even going to stay for dinner? There has to be some sort of prey here! Besides, it's not like you have anywhere else to be." Now he had to strangle back a roar of frustration. Was this girl really that self-centered, or was she just that naive? Either was, she was a fool. "I'm pretty sure that black wolf you just... bit... has a pack to lead. And, personally, I have to make a new nest, since my last one was blown away by a storm." His excuse was a total lie, of course. He usually just slept on the earth or, if he was feeling anti-social, in a sturdy tree away from the main camp. But if it would keep the fool from bothing him any more, he would lie all she wanted.
"Why, my Lord, hath you decided to test us so? What are you saying with these tribulations? We're leaving." The overgrown lizard had to agree with him there. It certainly wasn't his toughest tribulation, but... it was his most taxing on his nerves. Tez gave a hum of agreement at the ebony wolf. "Sometimes God decides to test us common folk in... interestin' ways. We just 'ave ter weather through this like we would a storm or battle." He didn't particularly like agreeing with the snappish harbringer, but their belief about their Lord was the same. It was only a couple more steps and a flap of his wings, and he stood beside the smallish wolf. He looked away from the oncoming duo, one sane and the other... not.__________________________________________ notes x. - He should actually probably be in Viriun. [ c o m e o u t o f y o u r c a v e w a l k i n g o n y o u r h a n d s...] Still with her wings half-spread, Arete glanced at the creatures around her. Abraxas had advanced upward, making toward the exit, but still hadn't left. He didn't look like he was about to, either, at least until she or the emerald dragon had. The Gryphess shifted, uncomfortable with her sudden dilemma. It would appear altogether to suspicious for her to stay in her current position and insist on being the last out of the cave, but she couldn't wander back towards her perch and risk being followed. A heavy sigh escaped her ebony beak. So be it.
"Are we leaving, or do you intend to loiter here until the day is gone?" She cawed, interrupting the muffled flow of conversation. "I do not know what exactly inhabits these caves at night, but I don't care to find out." Extending her wings fully, Arete made to leave. Without quite realizing it, she turned her hazy gray gaze to Abraxas and glared at him. If it wasn't for the fact he looked back, boring his solid golden eyes into hers, she probably would have kept on doing so. A cold sensation rippled down the Gryphon's back, and for a moment, her unease surfaced, breaking her vacant expression. But then it was over, and the Gryphess had thrust herself into the air in a flurry of rapid wing beats. Limited by space, she spiraled upward toward the gap in the cave ceiling. Once the others had left, she would circle back and help the small brown wolf. Perhaps.
[...a n d s e e t h e w o r l d h a n g i n g u p s i d e d o w n.] O O C... ...Muahaha. That would be my doing, I guess. BTW with, I hope you don't mind the minor powerplay, I tried to ask you in the chat, but you weren't there. I don't think it will be a problem but I can remove it if you want ^-^
