Personality: Bastijn, on the surface, may seem at first glance to have the personality of a rock. He rarely speaks, and he seems to stare cryptically through those who try to talk to him. When he does speak, it tends to come as quite a shock to others because his low, quiet rumble of a voice is not what one might expect the hear from the frighteningly massive brute. He is not overtly aggressive; rather, he tends to stand in silent, vigilant observance of all that goes on around him. As a result, he seems to almost blend into the background of others' lives, almost like a living statue that knows much but speaks nothing of what he knows.
Strengths: His brown gaze is intense and his presence commanding. The very sight of the mammoth brute can paralyze the weaker-willed into a state of terror; his body language is a powerful tool of communication which can convey his exact wishes to others fairly accurately, and with very little confusion once others get used to his ways. As a result, he makes a very excellent prospect to be a guard or a sentinel. The fact that he rarely speaks makes him the best keeper of secrets--whether he is loyal or not is something that only he knows, but he would never tell a crucial or sensitive secret regardless because he simply does not seem to care. Incidentally, this also (much to his bane, although he is patient with it nonetheless) seems to make him an excellent sounding board for those in charge of him to vent their verbal frustrations. He easily follows orders, and seems complacent to be under the command of a capable leader--it's far easier to let others do all of the heavy decision-making, after all. But Bastian's skills are not simply intimidation and obedience alone: he is muscle, and although it is rarely necessary for him to do so, he can and will tear down a single enemy with considerable ease. Oddly enough, he seems to have excellent night-vision.
Weaknesses: Although Bastijn is a massive, well-muscled brute, he is not the most strategic of fighters. In a one-on-one fight, Bastijn is nearly unstoppable, but if he ends up ganged up on he could be in a world of trouble without the support of fellow fighters or subordinates. For unknown reasons, he is unused to being in the sunlight and is practically blind during the day, unless stationed in a dark cave or building. For this reason he is not well-suited to being in any part of an army, neither commanding it nor at its front lines. Rather, he is better suited to be a shape in the shadows--an unmoving, easily ignored shape--or as a guard on the move in a covert mission in the strict dark.
Fears: Strangely enough, Bastijn seems to be afraid of his own shadow...
Quirks: Unnerving silence and a penetrating gaze. He also hates for his paws to be touched--just don't try it. He does enjoy a good bath, however.
Beliefs: Bastijn believes in his own survival, and nothing more. However, if he were to join up with a leader capable of earning his own special brand of respect, he would take comfort in having something other than his own unimportant life to protect and believe in.
Sexuality: Unknown--Bastijn never looks at anyone as anything other than a noisy nuisance in his path, regardless of gender. It's highly rumored that he is incapable of expressing sexual interest in anyone.
Note: I'd like Bastijn to be discovered by/join another schism, but I'd want to roleplay that part out, if that's all right ^^ I may like to brainstorm plot ideas with someone, if Bastijn is accepted and anyone's interested xD Bastijn is still a WIP character and could develop further as he goes, but we'll let the fates decide that, shall we? Hope he's well-balanced enough; I tried to give him enough weaknesses to balance his strengths. Let me know if I've crossed any lines anywhere. Also: Not sure if Bastijn counts as a "Renegade" or as a "none" for schism at this point... is there a difference? I just put Renegade for now.
