The buildings thrust themselves into the sky with giant claws of metal. The sky was gray and dreary, low clouds hanging over the spears like a flimsy blanket. They were trees of rusting metal and chipped concrete, of broken glass and decaying memories. Some archaic species, long dead and long gone. A pup trudged through the metal forest, little paws stepping absent-mindedly around shard of glass or uprooted lines of pipe. Four pools of yellow stared straight forward, intent on their mission. A serpentine tail dragged on the ground, slithering like a snake. The tough, scaled skin protected it from the harsh obstacles in the way, and the pup payed little mind to his tail. He had brought an offering. In his jaws pooled crimson, dripping down his chin and laving splatters on his paws and a trail behind him. A curious tongue slurped at the rabbit's heart, savored the taste. But he mustn't suck it dry. It was a gift to the leader of this pack. The Viriun. He'd caught the rabbit himself. Well, not exactly. Another wolf had caught it, but just as it was setting to eating the rabbit, Samael had emerged to ask for it's heart. Of course, at the sight of him, the wolf had yelped in fright and ran off, calling him by the name 'Demon'. He must have had him confused with someone else. But they had left the rabbit with the blood still warm. Samael had then set to work eating the rabbit, because, boy, was he hungry. And then he took the heart out and brought it here. He looked around, swinging his head and splattering more blood everywhere. He then deposited the heart as his feet, the blood spilling out and into a pool at his paws. Hello? he called, voice obviously not as deep as an adult male's. His words dripped with blood. He was here because he needed to be. That's what The Dream told him. The Dream told him to come to the Forest of Metal and find the wolves there. Samael knew that The Dream was to be obeyed. So here he was.

WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND... IS THAT DREAMS AREN'T ALWAYS JUST IN YOUR MIND. [bg=ffffff][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] - - ||you don't believe in ||
- || G O D || - || i don't believe in luck ! || - -
It was a dull day, and like most of those, the Harbinger of Viriun took to himself. He told the others that chuckled at his habits that - No, fuck off, the weather has nothing to do with wanting to be alone for a change. - And they had let him be, to his pleasure. It was an empty feeling that he got inside, and wondered if they were right.
But no matter, he was always an oxymoron, the wolf that hunted better on his own. There were lots of things to kill around here, and he was hungry. - Perhaps a deer? - It was not unusual for the carnivores of Viriun to feast upon their flesh. There was some sort of difference between the deer they hunted and the deer that were one of them. Something about intelligence - but that did not matter in the least. They couldn't speak or communicate, and so thus were without Him, and were to be purged from the earth anyways. Snorting, he lifted his head to the sky, and smelled around for things. Curiously, there was a metallic smell in the air, somewhere off in the distance. "Probably fucking rust or whatever the hell is eating the metal trees." he swore to himself, but decided to give in, padding over the cracks in the black earth. Glancing to each sky, he peered into the darkness of the trees, wondering again what had lived there. It threatened to swallow them up sometimes, and others it provided a safe haven. Normal trees like the Kinir had wouldn't do that. He decided it was worth the cost.
Transitioning into an easy lope, he followed his nose, turning past one of the clearings where the metal had long ago been swallowed up by grass and actual trees. He didn't prefer this environment. - Unnatural freak. - he thought to himself, smirking. He figured that perhaps since he wasn't quite a normal wolf, he didn't have to think like them, either. Turning back onto the packed ground, his paws caressed the ground with grace attributed to his age. Feathers floated in the wind, snapping lightly at the air as he cut through it. Ah, the scent was close now, and he took one more turn, almost silently, waiting to see what exactly this was.
...T-this... Was... What? Abraxas' thoughts weren't clear, and he stared, amber eyes glinting in the dreariness of the day. Just then, it started to sprinkle lightly, and he thanked his Lord that his jaw wasn't open, displaying his shock. Without pupils, it was a bit difficult to gesture at things or use body language cues, but for once, he was grateful. It would be bad to upset this... thing. Blood dripped from its maw, and a heart lay at its feet. Or... Was that its face? He thought so. Unblinking yellow eyes stared at him... At least, that's what he THOUGHT they were and what they were doing. - This creature, i-it looks familiar. - he thought to himself, and stood stock still as he tried to remember. - A dream? Perhaps just a nightmare. -

Heart pounding, Abraxas froze as he heard that voice. It was low, distorted, and hellish. It dripped with malice but seemed to coo the very truth. Surely it wasn't that little thing's voice? It had said hello earlier, but he had ignored it in his haste. Suddenly, a thought came to him. S-surely... Not. It couldn't be. It was... Him? As soon as he thought that, an ominous presence overtook him, and Abraxas remained frozen, showing nothing on his face, but internally chanting nonsense as his heart beat so rapidly he thought he would keel over. And jsut as suddenly as He had shown His Most Glorious Presence, He had left, and Abraxas felt both empty and full, lost, and found. "My Lord..." he whispered in reverence, too low for the... thing... to hear. Abraxas swallowed and steeled himself as he brought himself back to the street he was on, and not the one of his nightmares... Covered with living flesh, flames, and a sky the color of coagulated blood as screams and metal shrieked their protests into the world, the cries of-
No. He would think more on this later. Now was now, and he needed to decide what exactly to do about his current situation. The creature seemed harmless, and he didn't remember if it was helping or hurting in his dream. Everything was fuzzy now, but as he pondered more on it, flashes of memory appeared, and all of his senses were flung into them for a few split seconds. Shaking his head slightly and digging his claws into the earth, he focused his eyes on the creature's own as he made his decision. - My Lord, please let this be what Your glorious plan has intended. -
"Hello, what's your name?" Abraxas questioned, trying to focus on the thing's eyes. No, bad plan. Its body wasn't that bad, and it looked to be a young pup from the size of its paws. But its tail... What the FUCK had happened to this thing? It looked fine and stable enough, but Abraxas wasn't going to take chances. "I am Abraxas, Harbinger of Viriun." Taking his gaze away from the blood dripping from its maw and the heart lying at its feet, he decided that politeness would perhaps win this thing over. but if it was a threat to Viriun... He didn't know what he'd do. But He would not have sent this creature for no reason, so it must have a purpose intended by Him. Would Abraxas' will mess it up and have himself damned for eternity, or... Would everything play out exactly as He wished, for He knew all? Abraxas figured the latter, but still. He couldn't stand eternal damnation with the rest of the sinners. - Please, send me a sign if this is the path You have intended for Your faithful servant! - he mentally screamed, but in vain.
For no sign came.

Pawsteps. Ears flickered and swiveled, as if trying to pinpoint the sound. The rest of him was still. No movement except for the dark ears moving sporadically, with sharp, jerking movements. His head tilted to one side as he found the source. He clicked his teeth together and his head turned slowly, straightening out to stare directly at the voice. His tongue slipped from the side of his mouth, where there was no teeth, and slipped over his eyes, then retracted and did the same on the opposite side. A creature emerged from behind a corner, right into his gaze. It was a big wolf, with feathers protruding from from his front legs. It seemed shocked to see him. Samael did not understand why people found him so interesting. His ears fell back as unblinking eyes scanned over the wolf. It was quiet for many moments, and it began to drizzle. A drop of water fell on his eye, and his tongue quickly snapped out to snatch it. He did not like having water on his eyes. The blood dripping from his maw, he did not mind. But he could not handle getting anything on his eyes. It had a strange way of distorting what he saw. Most people would blink it away before they could really get a good look at the world through raindrops. But, alas, Samael lacked eyelids to blink it away with, so his tongue would have to suffice.
Hello, what's your name? asked the big, dark wolf. Why was he talking like that? Was he... Was he afraid of Samael? He would of frowned if he could.
I am Abraxas, Harbinger of Viriun.
Samael's eyes brightened. He didn't know what a Harbringer was, but he sounded important. His tail began to swerve back and forth, as if it were wagging. Of course, given it's size and length, wagging his tail was hard, so he got by just dragging his tail across the ground. He straightened up, rising his head as much as he could, and perked his ears. He even puffed out his chest to appear as macho as the little, freaky pup could. I am Samael. I wish to join you. It was strange. The voice was obviously young, very young. But the words coming from the bloodied maw were mature. His gaze turned to the hear at his paws, head tilting down the examin it. It was almost out of blood, it had collected into a pool and was getting on his paws. He leaned down and scooped it up in his jaws, restraining his tongue from lapping at the blood again.
He padded forward on little feet and dropped the rabbit's heart at the big wolf, Abraxas', paws. I brought you a gift.

NOTES
lololol I've decided Sammy doesn't have eyelids. Well, he has these thin eyelids, but they're transparent and he can't control them. His eyes just kind of glaze over when he sleeps. Also, in case you were wondering, his name isn't pronounced like 'Sam-aye-yell', it's more like 'Sah-muh-yayl'. But I figure the other kiddies will pronounce it wrong, because even Sammy does sometimes. DREAM... SEND ME A SIGN. [bg=ffffff][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=border,0,true] - - ||you don't believe in ||

That thing was moving. Its disgusting tail seemed to wag back and forth in excitement as the creature moved. Once again, Abraxas wondered why in all hell he had been chosen to look after this thing. Or perhaps if he should just kill it. Heaving a sigh, he watched as it swelled, and was instantly reminded of other pups too. Vincent did that whenever the child had done something good to show off to Abraxas... But then he had gotten too 'good' for him. Damn priest.
No matter now, he supposed, as the thing decided to talk, "I am Samael. I wish to join you." - Fan-fucking-tastic, - he thought, - This'll be a fun one to explain. "So guys, I found this disgusting aberration wandering around and decided to keep him." - It dripped blood before walking closer and dumping the extremely mangled heart at his feet. "I brought you a gift." Trying valiantly and succeeding to keep the disgusted look off his face - who knows how many germs that thing had - he nodded in acknowledgement. - I suppose I can't re-gift this one. -
"Thank you, Samael. You may join the Viriun as a recruit, if you desire." It was against his better judgement, but still unnerved by his prior encounter, Abraxas made his decision. "I just ate. Perhaps you're hungry?" he said, nudging the heart back towards the young one and attempting to put on a welcoming smile. It wasn't working.
Perhaps it was nervousness and fear that gripped him, but the more he interacted with Samael, the more he thought it was harmless. Disgusting, obviously, but Abraxas could easily break its bones with a snap of his jaw. Abraxas wondered if this thing would show up in his dreams later. Abraxas did not want to sleep.
However, actions must be made, for inaction was death here. "Come on, then. We should get going back. Do you know of the Viriun?" He gave a half-turn, almost forgetting how to act with pups - for that's what this was. Although, he was curious about how it came to be. He thought it was a dog, but he wasn't particularly sure. And just... why? - What are you? -

Abraxas seemed to accept Samael's offering, for which the little monster of a pup was grateful. An unseen smile reflected in his eyes, a glee unnoticed because of his inability to smile. Or frown, for that matter. Or perform any facial expression. Not that Samael minded. As far as he could remember (which wasn't very far back, it was all fuzzy up to a couple weeks ago), it had been the same. He wasn't one to complain.
"Thank you, Samael. You may join the Viriun as a recruit, if you desire."
The tip of his tail curled and uncurled in excitement. Mission accomplished! The Dream would be very pleased, he knew.
"I just ate. Perhaps you're hungry?"

Abraxas nudged the little heart back towards him, and Samael turned his head to one side to get a better view. He eyed the large wolf for a moment. "Are you sure? I mean, yeah, I guess I'm hungry." He faced the little heart and then looked from Abraxas to the little, mushy red lump. Once he had decided the big wold was sure, Samael leaned down and scooped up the heart in his jaws, then tilted his head back like an alligator and swallowed it whole. He swallowed multiple times to get it down, eyes seeming to glaze over as he focused on getting the rabbit's heart down his throat. "Come on, then. We should get going back. Do you know of the Viriun?" "I don't know. The Dream told me to find you though. She wasn't very clear though." He spoke as if these dreams were a normal thing. They certainly weren't normal for Samael. That was why he had known it was a special dream. That it must be obeyed. He looked at Abraxas, eager to get going. Abraxas must be obeyed, too. Samael liked Abraxas. With a soft sigh, Samael shifted his paws, flicked his tail, and clicked his teeth. His right ear flicked, and his tongue snapped out to wet his eyes. He spoke in a elated tone, "Let's go home. I want to meet the family." _______________________________________________
